Thrifty Thursday
Today’s post isn’t necessarily advice so much as a debate starter.
Outlet strip malls and individual outlet stores. Are they really worth it? Are they worth the drive if you don’t live close by? I’m beginning to think they are not as thrifty as they claim to be, unless they are having some crazy 70% clearance of past already-discounted-seasoned items.
I believe that you will most likely receive more bangs for your buck and fuel saving habits by purchasing online through retail discounted websites’ sub pages (i.e. REI.com/outlet, shopadidas.com/outlet, etc.).
As for outlets, they’re great for more upscale venues – especially if the item cannot be obtainable through middle-scale retailers like Macy’s – such as Prada. However, you’d be surprised how many upscale boutiques/flagship have its own 40% to 70% sales at the end of the season, like Jimmy Choo, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana. That is if you can stand to wait and if they still have the item you lusted after for three months!
So, are outlet strip malls and individual outlet stores really worth your gas money?
