Aspire To Be? Or Inspired By?
Love them, admire them, or hate them Rodarte is amalgamated with breathtaking talent. Rodarte, named after their mother’s maiden name, is composed of two sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy who are graduates from U.C. Berkeley. In a split second (well, maybe more like an hour or less), and with only a 10-piece collection, they have gone from nobodies to famous designers. After Kate and Laura’s first showing at New York Fashion Week in 2005 all the major players of upscale retailers clamored for a piece of the sisters’ collection. They even advanced a meeting with Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief, of U.S. Vogue. Now that is impressive and inspirational.
The following pieces are from the Fall/Winter 2008 show. I hope you like them as much as I do and I’m positive there will be more amazing pieces to come from the dual at Rodarte.
